Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is an American screen and stage actress, best known for her film roles on the film Ray Undercover Brother and on the TV show The Mentalist. She graduated with a B.A. from African-American Studies, from Brown University. Her MFA is in acting from Tisch School at New York University. Aunjanue Lisa Ellis, a writer and American actor who is active in theater as well as television and film. Her career began as a theater actress and then appeared in a number of TV shows and independent as well as mainstream films. She rose to fame as Miranda Shaw in ABC's Quantico as well as on BET's epic series The Book of Negroes. Both of the roles she received critical acclaim and a variety of nominations and awards including an award from the Television Critics Choice Award for the best Actress. She began her career as an actress in 1995 when she played Ariel in The Tempest. The actress has appeared as a character on Broadway in Come and Gone, A Winter's Tale, Drowning Crow as well as Seeking the Genesis. In terms of her career in movies the most recognizable roles she has played include Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express The Help. For her work on television she's been recognized for her role as the regular character in ABC's police drama High Incident.
